  • 1982: The company was rebranded as Discount Freight Express in 1982 and then StarTrack Express in 2000, after a freight management system.

  • 2003: StarTrack Express was acquired by Australia Post and Qantas in a 50/50 joint venture.

  • 2012: Australia Post acquired full ownership of StarTrack Express and renamed it StarTrack, complete with its iconic blue branding.

How do I send a parcel via StarTrack?

To send a parcel directly through StarTrack, the first step is to create an account. This option is best for those who will regularly use the service such as businesses regularly shipping out goods to customers.

To create an account you first first submit an enquiry for review meaning this process can take a little bit of time to set up.

But, once you have your account you can quickly and easily send parcels by following these steps:

Online bookings

  • Go to the online booking form
  • Select the state you're in and enter your customer number and password
  • Select "Add Job" to book a new delivery
  • Fill in the details and the service you need
  • Once you've finished your booking, print a label to attach to the item so you can track the booking all the way to delivery. Once it arrives, you can see the name and signature of the person who signed for the item.

Phone bookings

  • Phone 13 13 20 and press 1 for bookings
  • Quote your client code and cost centre or reference
  • Provide the following details:
    • Ready date and time for bookings
    • Any critical deadlines (for instance, tender or settlement documents)
    • Complete and accurate delivery details
    • Type of item to be delivered (letter, box, tube)
    • Number, weight and size of items
  • Choose your service: Standard, Express or Immediate Priority
  • Choose your method of delivery (bike, car, wagon, half van, van / tray)
  • You'll be provided with a booking job number for future reference
